ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY
The Department of
Environmental Protection Agency is delighted to assist
The Redcliffe
Seafood Festival
with their green
initiatives - which involve food service;
drink service, recycling &
waste management.
The festival will be using biodegradable products that are sourced
for organic
and renewable recourses.
We are looking for a
successful outcome and hope that people do the right thing and
dispose of their waste in the correct manner.
We delighted to assist with this concept and hope for a successful
outcome.
We urge the community both at home and visiting the event to do the
right thing
and dispose of their waste in the correct manner.
What a waste!
Approximately 3000 tonnes of solid waste are generated
each day in the south-east corner of Queensland alone.
Most of this waste is sent to landfill.
You can help to
minimise waste by
reducing, reusing, recycling and
composting.
We are all responsible for waste and we all need to make an
effort to minimise our contribution.
Reduce your contribution to waste.
-
Say no to unnecessary plastic
shopping bags.
-
Re-use containers for storing
food or other materials.
-
Compost garden clippings,
leaves and kitchen wastes (vegetable peelings, fruit
peelings and cores).
-
Recycle household items:
glass, aluminium and steel cans; plastic milk and softdrink
bottles; milk and juice cartons; and cardboard, newspaper
and writing paper. But check with your local council to find
out what you can recycle locally. (Don’t mix recyclables or
include foreign items.)
-
Recycle
used oil by pouring it back into an empty oil container
and taking it to your local used oil facility for recycling.
This helps conserve a valuable resource and protect the
environment.
